6. **From the menu bar, choose Image > Adjustments > Curves**.

In many ways, adjusting the midtones and shadows with the Curves adjustment is like darkening an image on a computer screen (see Book III, Chapter 4).

The Curves dialog box (Figure 6-22) opens, and you see the dialog box shown in Figure 6-23.

Some basic versions of the dialog box offer the following options:

* **Point Cloud Preview**. Using this option, you can look at the areas that are being affected on the image canvas and, thus, see the results you’re getting.

* **Ratio**. This option lets you set the aspect ratio for the image (it affects the height and width of the image on the canvas). Using the Scale tool, you can drag the canvas around while you adjust the image. It’s a quick way to create a new aspect ratio.

* **Spacing (optional)**. This option lets you set the distance between the slider minimum and maximum points that affect the curve. A short setting leads to less midtone adjustment. A longer setting enables you to fine-tune the curve at a closer level.

Drag the Spacing slider to establish the distances you want between the two points. Click the up and down cursors just under the Spacing slider to change the setting. The default setting is a little close, but the distance can easily be adjusted.

7. **Adjust the Left, Right, and Top Midtones**.

Drag the sliders to adjust the image.

Check the preview window to see what happens. These adjustments have more of a visual effect than the other Curves adjustments, and this adjustment probably will not be used as often.

The curve adjustment is not as responsive as the Hue/Saturation settings (see the next section) and can be a little difficult to pull off, so it may not be quite so popular.

I’m running an EntityFieldQuery on a lot of nodes to add some data to one of my fields. The problem I’m running into is that the EntityFieldQuery doesn’t seem to include an object name.
If I run a query against the node content table on the field for the data I want (in this case phone number), I’m going to end up with this (example stripped down for brevity):
