Searching for what you want to do
Photoshop can do just about anything to an image. Just because one program can do something to a file, doesn’t mean that Photoshop can do the same thing. You have to know what you’re trying to do to search for tools that will do it.
Although Photoshop has one of the most complex dialog boxes of any Windows program, you can do a lot without ever opening one. There are still areas of the main dialog box that you should know how to use. For example, you can change the filter type directly from the Filters menu at the top of the Photoshop dialog box. You can quickly change the mode from RGB to CMYK or vice versa, or reduce or increase the sharpness. When you’re looking for a specific tool, you have to know how to use the top and bottom menus of the dialog box.
To make it easier to find what you’re looking for, the help in Photoshop is very comprehensive. If you know the name of the tool that you want to use, or what you want to modify in the image, help is just one mouse click away.
Chapter 5, which introduces Photoshop, contains a comprehensive list of all the tools on the top and bottom menus, and Help is located in the bottom right corner.
If you’re reading this book with a current version of Photoshop, the dialog boxes are slightly different. You’ll notice that many options for the Image Processing commands, which are available in the Book III Chapter, are on the Format menu in CS5.
Understanding the layers
You can think of Photoshop as a toolbox with many different tools in it. You can pull the tools you need from the toolbox and drop them directly onto the image area. After you create the image, you can draw new tools on the canvas by creating new layers on the layer stack. Figure 4-4 shows the image area with layers visible on the bottom of the Layers panel.

You’re going to use layers for the most part in this book because they’re the basis of Photoshop’s editing system and where most editing takes place. Layers are independent and much more powerful than traditional image editing applications that have only one layer. In fact, layers are the organizing principle for most editing in Photoshop

1. Download the Photoshop Elements version you need

2. Install your Photoshop Elements program

3. Set up your media
Find and open Photoshop Elements in the Applications folder, follow the on-screen instructions and you are ready to edit!
4. Create a new Photoshop Elements document
Go to File > New.
5. Open your photo
Find the photo on the desktop or using the file browser.
6. Import the photo into your new Photoshop Elements document
Find the photo and drag and drop it into the document window. This process will automatically populate the width and height fields with the width and height of the original photo.
7. Use Photoshop Elements to edit your image
You may now edit your image using the controls at the top of the document. Use the controls and tools that you’re most comfortable using.
8. Save your image
Press the File > Save menu. Choose what to do with your image file.
9. Close Photoshop Elements
Choose File > Close from the menu and you’re done!

You may use PhotoPills to add a caption to your photo. After adding the photo, you can now drag the image up into the text box to adjust the size and position of the caption. You can then press the space bar to apply

Why does NServiceBus receive messages and process them, but does not send them out?
I am playing with NServiceBus. Everything is deployed and works fine, but I wonder why the processing within the bus is done but the messages are not sent out?
For example, inside an NServiceBus endpoint, I have a handler, let’s say, for a certain message which processes it and then sends a new message that contains the end result. When doing this, I get an exception saying that the handler must throw Exception:
System.InvalidOperationException: HandleUnhandledReceiver, TProcessMessageHandler must throw to break loop on the bus or IErrorHandler. This exception will be ignored by the message loop.

Now, this confirms that the message is captured inside NServiceBus, but when I try to send it out (in this case, I’m just trying to send a message back to myself) I get:

Codeigniter query with $this->db->insert_id()
I want to use insert_id() function inside a Codeigniter function.
When I use insert_id() as such:

$this->db->insert_id();
return $this->db->insert(‘tbl_table’,$data);
}
I get:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function db_insert_id() in line 2
Which makes sense, because from within a function my $this->db is not global and does not have access to the global $this->db and $this->db->insert_id().
However I would like to use this method because its much faster than writing my own MySQL function.
Is there anyway I can use this method from within a function in Codeigniter and still get the insert_id value?
