The most noticeable change is that there is no longer a ball to control at times. Instead, the player ‘controls’ the ball by using « force-feedback » generated by the on-field action. The AI system will also react better to control taking options.

“A few years ago we wanted to give them the ability to be able to draw the ball back into their feet during a drop-weight situation, but we did not have the technology,” said Ballouchy. “This year, with our HyperMotion Technology, we have solved that issue and we can say ‘okay guys, in football we do not ‘touch’ the ball, we control the ball.’”

The new ball physics work using a group of algorithms in real-time. One of the more important changes is how the ball moves when it is kicked or in the air. The ball spins when kicked. Ball movement is not influenced by the surroundings as it moves in the same way the ball moves in real-life. The new ball physics are able to control the ball for a better simulation of real-life conditions.

Swinging a player towards the ball will often cause the ball to deflect, but the HyperMotion Technology avoids using complex physics to control the ball, which can have unpredictable results and does not always reflect real-life movements.
