It’s not often a game is able to catch my eye on steam for 20 bucks- that is a steal- so when I see something like this, I was more than happy to grab it- this is a true JRPG, it’s fun, creative and has a nice nostalgic turn of the century mood to it.

So lets talk about this game. It’s a JRPG, like most of you probably already guessed. It’s got characters, a story, stuff to do, combat and customization, and a wonderful touch of retro-futurism to it. And not only that it’s only $19.99. I feel like this is a rare case where there is very little bad that I can say about this game and it’s more of a case of « eh » at this point.

I love the story and voice work of the characters- it’s fun, entertaining, and it adds a sense of personality and immersion to the game that you don’t often find in a JRPG or even most indie games. The characters were designed by the developer and have a nice mechanical feel to them- most of the animations are very cute, and the characters are likable, relatable, and fun to interact with.

The music and sound effects are right in the vein of what I’d expect a modern JRPG to be like- they have a classic feel, but you also have the option to turn the music up and everything will sound like the soundtrack is from the game, and that feels nice.

The game is very tactile and immersive, with an emphasis on the use of the environments. Whether you’re in the open world, driving or walking through a dungeon, it’s all pretty well done and looks very good.

RPGs can be expensive, this one is $19.99? And the story and content is worthy of it, moreso than some larger titles. I honestly would recommend it to any JRPG fan. If you’re starting to regret buying $60 JRPGs, this is the game that will change that.

Even though it’s a JRPG, this is a very open world, has options that the player can spend money on, and character can be gained. They aren’t locked and locked behind you having to go through levels or anything like that.

It’s really hard to judge a game on its graphics, as we’ve seen good looking titles with bad games and vice versa.
