AutoCAD’s lineage can be traced back to 1975, when the first release of « AutoCAD System-1″ was developed by Seymour P. « Seymour » Shein. The first AutoCAD product was an extension to the AutoCAD System-1, AutoCAD System-2 (first version released in 1981), AutoCAD System-3 (released in 1983), and AutoCAD System-4 (released in 1985).

The first version that had 3-D capabilities was AutoCAD System-4, version 3.0, released on June 11, 1985. The 3-D capabilities consisted of blocks, surfaces, and projections. Later versions would add additional objects and capabilities. These 3-D capabilities were similar to those found in other CAD packages of the time, such as MicroStation, Revit, and ArchiCAD. However, the small number of views and the limited features of some of these packages make it difficult to create 3-D models.

Autodesk in 1983 developed version 2 of the AutoCAD system, which introduced coordinate systems and labeled (unstructured) drawing views, along with several new tools and improvements. This new version had a fixed number of views (26) and fixed-size scaled dimensions.

In 1988, AutoCAD’s coordinate system was changed to a polar (either azimuthal or polar) system. It was now possible to create models with thousands of views and dimensions. In addition, the blocks, surfaces, and projections could be placed in an array (or mesh). The older format of 3-D models had to be converted.

The first version of AutoCAD with 2-D plotting capability was AutoCAD 2.0, released in 1989.

I am developing a game using Cocos2D for the iOS platform. The game is not simple card game. The game is a little bit like the game Othello. I am currently thinking of saving the game data (i.e. board) into a file so that if the user clears the data (i.e. remove all tiles), I would still have the data when I restart the game.
