To create a simple text effect, you first draw a letter, create a solid color, and then apply a patterned or gradient overlay to create the illusion of a print.

Let’s start with the basics. Select the text tool, and type the word « Hello. » Choose Windows from the Tools drop-down menu in the Options bar as shown in Figure 2-1.
