I have a few questions about a problem I’ve been running into with C++ and OpenGL. A lot of what I’ve read/learned appears to be dated (last 12 years), so I’m getting the feeling I’m not the only one stuck on this one.

I’m aware that XNA is not native support, and that this should only be used for simple games. I realize this, and I’m fine with using that if the time is worth it for my game. What I’m interested in is a quick and easy way to create some sprite sheets in the engine. Is there a good way to do this with C++? I would accept the simplest solution here…are there any programs that will do this for me?

I’m finding it difficult getting the scale of texture resolutions right for different objects. I have an image I want to scale to size, but it ends up looking good on a massive display, but too small on my smaller screen. How can I account for this?

I’m aware that C++ does support classes, and that its only real deficiency is that it does not support single inheritance. I’m ok with this. I’d like to know how to accomplish the same basic thing that is possible in Java…that is, how do I create a class that extends another class and has its own methods, with the methods acting on
