Catfood Earth transforms your desktop wallpaper into a regularly updated view of our planet’s map. Your wallpaper can now show current cloud cover, weather radar, earthquakes, the extent of daylight and nighttime, political borders and more.
Catfood Earth has three themes. The default is the natural theme that will display the extent of daylight and nighttime aas well as the global cloud cover (updated every three hours).
The application offers you the possibility to choose from multiple map layers that will be displayed on your desktop, such as clouds, day and night images, timezones or earthquakes.
The Time Zones theme color codes countries and regions to show their current time zone. Clocks at the top of the screen show you the current time in each zone. As countries enter or leave daylight savings the map is updated.
You can choose to add places to the map, in which case Catfood Earth can also display the local time for cities, friends, company offices, etc. This theme is ideal for frequent travelers or to display locations as a conversation piece in your company’s reception area.
Lastly the Earthquakes theme shows recent earthquake data from the USGS. You can display earthquakes from up to the past twenty-four hours, and from magnitude 2.5 or higher. The display for each quake fades over time so it’s easy to pick out the more recent events. It’s also possible to show the location, time and magnitude of each quake.

The application displays earthquakes that have occurred in the past 24 hours.
Each earthquake is marked with its magnitude and a red dot.
The application has a black border around the map which fades from dark red in the east to light red in the west.
You can hover over the map to get more information about the earthquakes, such as how long ago they occurred, their location, or magnitude.
The application also allows you to add your own locations, such as friends’ or company’s addresses.
Map changes when time changes
The application displays the map of the local time in every zone on Earth. The time in each zone is relative to UTC. Each zone can be selected for different time zones.
In the time of the day you can check the global map.
This means that in different areas of the world the Sun is in a different position. This varies depending on the time of the year and you can change the layer using the map of the day, map of night or map of the local time.
All layers change together or independently of each other (such as the day and night layers). The time of the day can be changed by using the time indicators on the top right corner of the screen. The application also has a built-in clock.
The map is updated every 3 hours and can be switched in the preferences.

The map of the day displays the extent of daylight in every zone on Earth. The daylight is displayed in percentage.
By default in every zone the Sun is in daylight for the whole day.

On your hard drive, in C:\, run TheGoogleMaps (Google & Bing Maps) and save the image.
I then use QuickImage (free) to convert the.jpg to a.png.
You can then do whatever you want with the.png you created by clicking save as.
