Turn off the computer without all the usual mess.
If you play correspondence or email chess, you will spend a lot of time searching
for and finding your chess match. Do you just want to shut your computer
down without the usual clutter? ECTool is a program that does just that!
When started, you are presented with a blank screen. Click the arrow at the bottom right
corner and choose the “I want to shut down” option. A black window will appear at the bottom of the
screen showing the ECTool options menu. You may be presented with some dialogs or error
messages at this point and possibly have to restart the computer, but you will still be left with a black
screen. Click on one of the links shown on the black screen. This will run one of a number of different
programs depending on which option you chose. You should check ECTool will not interfere with your computer
setup or the way you access it.
ECTool is a very easy program to use and you can be in and out of the program in no time. It is designed
to let you enjoy playing correspondence or email chess just like your normal computer games but you
don’t have to wait for your opponent to answer before closing your laptop.

What’s New in the ECTool?
ECTool (Electronic Chess Tool) is a chess-related program made by Åskavabé. The purpose of the program is to help the user in the management of chess correspondence, such as the transmission of chess games, analysis of the games and the checking of games. The analysis and checking of games is performed by searching for mate, checkmate and stalemate.
Note to Installers:
There is no installation. Simply unzip the contents into a folder of your choice.
It should be noted that the version included in this package is 0.98. Version 1.3 is available for download from the main menu.
If you are using a firewall with a proxy server on port 80, you will need to either configure ECTool to use a different port other than 80, or configure ECTool to run in non-proxy mode.
If you are using a firewall with a server or a firewall that restricts incoming or outgoing connections, you will need to request permission from ECTool’s developer before you can access its administration site.
