The IRT solution can be configured to support dozens of widely-used radio control (RC) packages, such as Rotax, X-planes, Arcus, Tunr, MaRC, flightlogs, SDR#, and many others. The default option of built-in RC support allows a single computer to connect to a single radio at up to 30 different remote stations around the world. Not only is this a single computer solution, but it is also a single Internet connection connection.
The next level of RC package support would be to provide direct hardware support for the N2M or STEM modular radio products.  The IRT is also capable of operating multiple remotely controlled radio stations at one time. It is very similar to a server-client model, however, the IRT uses generic protocols to achieve RC functionality and does not require the station to be modified or rewritten.
The IRT solution is very similar to RC products from the 1990s and offers many of the same capabilities, but is much simpler and easier to use. It does not require the operator to have any specialized hardware knowledge.
With the introduction of IRT 2.0 and the improvement of radio protocols in recent years, support for new and emerging standards is easily accommodated. The IRT supports the use of streaming audio data services from any web-based radio station, enabling the use of Internet Radio.
