MR1200 is an MP3 player built solely for DJing with. Rather than use a PC to replace an entire two-decks-and-a-mixer rig, it replaces only the decks, so you can continue to use your own separate mixer. This allows full use of mixer and headphones for prefading, meaning tracks can be mixed together as they always could be with decks.
The platter is supposed to be as much like a real SL1200 platter as possible.
In other words if you grab it (with the left mouse button) and wang it back and
forth it will have a similar effect on the playback.
In MR1200 if you wind it anticlockwise then the track will play BACKWARDS rather than just slowing down (that’s what the nudge and twist buttons are for). It’s not really accurate enough for scratching, but it works well enough for cueing.
One thing that ISN’T simulated is the inertia of the platter. I thought long
and hard about this, but eventually decided to leave it out. As the primary
reason I was coding MR1200 was for mixing, I saw no real point in
including some of the characteristics of a real deck that actually hindered
that. So instant start MEANS instant start.

MIDI:
This version of MR1200 does indeed use MIDI to trigger playback
and to control the platter on real decks. It’s a fairly simple
MIDI sequencer. MR1200 uses channel CC3/4 for instance to control
the pitch.
Which pitch? Well, you may have noticed that the pitch control knob
is labelled as « Pitch ». The « Pitch » knob is the same for all
channels. The platter’s pitch is set by the value in CC3/4 but the
actual pitch in machine-code is set by the value in CC8/9.
Why does it matter? Let’s say we want to play back the entire
song, backwards, using the Platter with the pitch knob set at +8.
We could do this by sending the entire song to the sequencer,
waiting for the platter to start and then sending a reverse MIDI
message to CC8 to set it to +8.
Or we could use « Mapping » to set up our platter tracks, if we want
to. The two most important things to set up on our MR1200 are the
pitch control and the cue points.
The Pitch control:
We want a full range of -8 to +8, so we’ll set up Mappings for both
pitch-increments and pitch-decrements.
In this case we’ll do a full click on the pitch control for each
step. The reason we chose to do this (and not a 2-step roll or
single click), is because it responds

MR1200 is a DJing MP3 player with a two-deck emulation of an analogue
turntable (NRV2525). It can be fully controlled with the mouse, and comes
with a copy of Cubase LE.
Although it is a clone of the SL1200, there are various small differences
that make it a good alternative to the original product – and it is being
developed from first principles. If the original SL1200 is not too expensive,
why not?
Up to 21 tracks can be « pushed » to either deck at once. (If that sounds
like a big number, then you should have a look at ID3 tagging; with a $50
studio program, you can get up to 25,000 songs!)
Usage:
======
MR1200 is a DJ tool only. As such it is dependent on other software
– primarily CDrecorder.
If you are using CDrecorder, then all you need to do is start CDrecorder,
choose MR1200 from the Add Hardware button and then save the project
file on the desktop. That will have created a « MR1200 project » file.
If you want to hear a track, open the project file (on the desktop)
and play the file, the same way you would any other audio file.

is completely monophonic and can playback up to 256 tracks
being output sequentially or simultaneously. With a storage
capacity of up to about 1 GB, MR1200 is fully compatible
