There are a large number of software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, that offer image editing and manipulation capabilities. However, Photoshop is the most widely used program for this type of work and is the one used by experienced graphic designers.

Don’t let the name fool you. Anyone can edit images. Photographers, painters, and anyone else with a graphics program and some practice can use Photoshop to edit images.

Getting Started with Photoshop

Setting up Photoshop is easy. Follow these instructions to get started:

1. Boot up your computer, and follow the steps in the tutorial « Getting Started with Photoshop CS6″ on this book’s `www.PhotoshopForDesigners.com/tutorials` to install Photoshop.

2. Launch Photoshop. Click the Photoshop CS6 icon (shown in the margin), and then click the logo in the upper-left corner. The Photoshop workspace should appear, as shown in Figure 10-1.

3. To open an image file, click the Open button on the standard Windows menu bar.

Windows 7 users can access the Open dialog box by choosing Edit Open.

4. The Open dialog box may suggest a location for the new image file. Unless you know exactly where you’re starting your work, clicking the Browse button automatically opens a folder so you can choose the file. Also, you can find the Browse button in the upper-left corner of the Photoshop workspace.

5. Select your image file or make one from the available folders.

6. If you already have a photo open, just click on the Open button again to start working on it.

7. Find the Image Bin. The Image Bin is a row of thumbnail images, arranged in order of most recent file used to open them. The current image (based on the new file you’ve just opened) appears in the upper-left corner, in the black outline, in the image bin. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move forward and backward through the image bin. The images in the bin appear in reverse chronological order, with the most recently used image at the top.

8. Adjust the Preset Settings. The Preset settings control how your image will be used in the session. You can load a preset by clicking the arrow to the left of the preset name on the Preset menu. The options include the most popular presets:

Note that I consider Adobe Photoshop to be a professional tool (Powerful, complex, fully featured) and Adobe Photoshop Elements to be a hobbyist tool (simple, basic, with limited features).

Should I pay for Photoshop Elements?

I’ve never had to pay for Photoshop Elements before, so it’s difficult for me to say whether it is worth paying for it. I’d say it is definitely not worth paying for; this tutorial and article is for Adobe Photoshop, not for Elements.

However, you can pay a yearly fee to Adobe if you want access to the more features in Elements, and I’ll go into that more detail later in this tutorial.

Update: Many people recommend Elements 10 or earlier due to issues with Elements 11’s un-optimised Blur filter. I don’t recommend Elements 10 for any task that requires more than Photoshop’s filter dialog, such as manual adjustments or virtual retouching.

There is a lot of information on the internet about choosing the best version of Photoshop or Elements, and there are still many people who choose Elements over Photoshop, so I’ve decided to write my own version of this guide for Photoshop instead of using articles from the internet.

If you’re still deciding whether to choose Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements, I suggest looking at my tips at the bottom of this article for more info about which version is right for your needs.

Must-have tools

Before we get started, here are some of the tools I use in my work every single day.

Any tool you use in graphic design is also a necessity if you use Photoshop. It’s a good idea to have a copy of Photoshop, Elements or an alternative that you can use for personal use. These are the tools I use:

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Sunday that the Minnesota Vikings are considering trading down in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.

What’s New In Photoshop 2021 (Version 22.1.1)?

Open Photoshop.

Go to and select Create new.

Select a folder as the working folder and click OK. The dialog box shown in Fig. 5.6 will appear.

Select a name for this folder and click OK. The dialog box will close.

Now you are ready to start creating your brushes.

Select the Brush tool from the Toolbox (Fig. 5.7). Note that the menu at the bottom of the image will update automatically.

Once you find a brush you like, drag the tool to a new location on your computer screen, where you will create your brush. The dialog box shown in Fig. 5.8 will appear.

After the Open brush has been selected, you will be given the dialog box shown in Fig. 5.9.

The size of the brush will be determined automatically. In order to change the size, click on the Size check box. Then drag the slider up or down.

After this, click on the Shape dropdown list on the bottom of the dialog box. This will allow you to select a shape you will be using for your brush.

Note that each shape has a different default size. Once you have selected your shape, click OK.

In order to control the size of your brush, you can always open up the Brush Options dialog box.

From here, you can:

* Click on the Size percentage dropdown list (Fig. 5.11a) and set a value between 0 and 100. This represents the percentage of the brush size relative to the final size of the brush.

* Use the Size percentage slider to directly change the size of the brush.

* Change the « Change size on output » setting if you want the brush size to change as you change the size of your image.

* Change the « Size factor » setting
