Image size
Currently, there are three image sizes available in Photoshop Elements: 1920×1200, 1600×1600, and 1280×720.
It is recommended that you always work with a resolution of at least 1600×1600. The maximum size of a monitor is 3840×2160. Therefore, the largest monitor you can use without distorting the image is 3840×2160 or 2160×3840. If you are using a monitor with a resolution below 1600×1600, you may experience distortions.

How to resize and crop images
You can resize images for social media. Click the image to select it, go to Image > Resize image, then enter the width, height and crop to fit or auto.
Cropping automatically removes the parts of an image that do not belong in the crop area. However, you can always manually adjust the crop.

How do I stop Slack / HipChat notifications being dropped when the window is resized?
I am coding an app that gets sent notifications when new messages are made in Slack or HipChat. The problem is that when the window resizes (i.e. screen size reduces in size) it drops the notifications. How can I make it such that they are never dropped?

To prevent the notifications from being dropped:
Go to Notifications tab
Click on the Block button next to the icon (i.e. has four colored squares)
Enter value of 0 to prevent notifications to drop when the application gets resized
To prevent notifications from being sent when the window gets resized:
Go to Notifications tab
Click on the Block button next to the icon (i.e. has four colored squares)
Enter 1 to prevent notifications from being sent when the application gets resized
Note: Do not select the setting Disabled to Never. This setting has been automatically included in the Block setting and applies regardless of whether the application is resized or not.

Brushes
Brushes in Photoshop are sometimes referred to as pens. You can click the Brush icon on the right side of the Layers panel to create a new brush and assign it a color.
Brushes come in different styles such as Multiply, Color Burn, Screen, Soft Light, Hard Light, Vivid Light, Linear Light, Linear Burn, Pin, Gradient and Free-Form. You can change the style of brushes by clicking the Brush Styles icon in the Toolbox or by clicking the icon next to the Brush name in the Tools panel.
Brushes offer various options, such as opacity. You can change a brush’s opacity by clicking its icon or by using the Opacity slider in the Brushes panel on the right side of the Layers panel. You can change a brush’s hardness by clicking the hardness slider or by changing the hardness value in the Brush Settings.
The Spot Healing Brush is one of the most effective tools for repairing damaged or corrupted images. You can repair local damage, such as scratches, or you can repair image details. You can control the Spot Healing Brush using the Refine Edge tool (a brush with the same name).
Brushes can also be combined with other Photoshop tools. For example, you can combine the Eraser (A) and the Spot Healing Brush (B) to cover a large area. You can use a large brush to paint an area and a small brush to cover it.
Effects
Photoshop’s effects such as Smudge, Dodge, Burn, and Levels provide various ways to enhance, modify or change the color, contrast, or brightness of an image. You can use Effects directly from the toolbar or via the Effects panel on the right side of the Layers panel.
You can apply one or more of the effects by using the leftmost image on the Toolbox. You can create your own effects by combining various Photoshop features. For example, you can combine the Dodge and the Burn tools.
The Transparency Panel lets you select individual layers to apply effects to them.
What is Brushing?
Brushing is a type of retouching in which you replace a damaged or corrupted area of an image with another area of the same image. To brush an area of an image, you first select the new area by clicking the brush with the mouse. Then you brush over the damaged or corrupted area and use the mouse to create the new image.
