Problem with variable initialization
I have two piece of code and one fails to compile while the other one compiles fine. Why?

This gives the error : error: ‘n’ undeclared (first use in this function)
But this other one compiles and doesn’t give any errors?

I know that in the first piece of code, n is not initialized. It is just not declared. Could someone explain the logic behind this?
And a possible resolution to this problem?

In the first example, n is declared inside main() and is therefore considered an automatic variable. Because it is not defined before being used, it is not visible outside of main().
The second example is different because n is declared at namespace scope; you’re not declaring a variable, you’re declaring a type. Because this is a type, you do need a variable to use it, so this example just declares a variable with name n and gives it the type int. You can use n in your program as a variable that can store values, just as you would use any other type of variable (e.g. you can use an int to hold a value or a pointer that holds a memory address).

You can only use the name of a variable if you have declared it. Using code like int m = 1 will not give you a compile time error but it will not declare the variable.
