A simplified image editor is Lightroom, a full-featured editor that allows you to edit multiple images at once and provides many other features.
Create a new file by choosing File⇒New. You can create it as a JPEG, TIFF, RAW, or PSD (Photoshop document) file. After you’ve chosen a file type, be sure that the option to remember the file type settings is turned on. That way, the following steps and the rest of the tutorial stay consistent when you save and reload the file. If you create a new file in the default Photoshop extension, you might want to change it to a TIFF file for maximum compatibility.
1. Choose File⇒Open.
A dialog box opens, as shown in Figure 3-1. You can use the dialog box to choose a file from a folder or drag a file from a Finder window to your image or to a browser window. Your choices are as follows:
• New: Create a new file by pressing this button.
• Open: Choose a file to open from a folder, Finder window, or browser window.
• Recent: Choose the recently used file or folder. This menu item may be preceded by a number to show which opened file that uses that number.
3. Select a file from the File Open dialog box.
The file appears in your image window.
If you use the file-browser feature of Finder, you can also drag a file from Finder directly to your image window.

4. Choose Edit⇒Preferences to open the Preferences dialog box, as shown in Figure 3-2.

5. Save the document, as described in the next section.
If you haven’t already saved your document, you’re prompted to do so now.
6. An image editor works when you have a selection in your image, and when you are ready to edit that selection, you can use the following commands to switch between the different editing modes:

How to calculate samples on a time series – Python
I have an array which stores time series data for a large number of time steps. These time series are extremely large, so they are stored in memory on a different machine.
I want to write a Python script which will traverse through these time series and divide them into small, manageable chunks. Each chunk will run a function which takes some parameters as input, processes the data in this chunk and returns output.
For example, suppose I have two arrays. The first one is a time series:

The Healing Brush allows you to edit an area of an image, without changing the surrounding pixels. It works like a rubber stamp, allowing you to push or pull pixels around. You can also use the Heal Selection feature to fine-tune the edges of an image.
The Smudge Tool can be used to add texture to an image, and blur or sharpen the edges. It is like the pencil tool, except it uses a brush pattern. You can also use the Dodge and Burn tools to remove or add contrast in an image.
The Perspective Warp Tool can be used to crop images, and also stretch them. It works just like a rubber band in Photoshop. You can also use the Filters and Layers panels to straighten out tilted or warped images.
The Pencil Tool works like a pointer, allowing you to draw your own shapes and lines. Click and hold to draw straight, semi-circular, looping, or curved lines. Click to release and it will draw out a line.
The Type Tool lets you add text to an image. The text can be centered, moved around, and scaled.
The Hand Tool lets you click on an area of an image to select it. Click again to deselect.
The Eraser tool removes unwanted pixels from an image. Click once to select a pixel to remove. Click again to deselect.
The Magic Wand tool is similar to the Lasso tool. By clicking the left mouse button, you can select a path of pixels. To select a smaller area, click and drag around the area, and Release to deselect.
The Marquee Tool is useful for selecting an image for cropping. Just click once in the area you want to select, and then drag away. The area is deselected until you click again.
The Pen Tool is similar to the pencil tool. You can use it to draw, draw straight lines, circles, or to draw out shapes. Click and hold to move around while drawing.
The Flattening Tool can straighten out uneven objects in an image. Click and drag the mouse to draw a line. Release to flatten the image.
The Freeze Frame Tool is useful for locking the image. Click and drag the mouse to freeze the image. Click and drag the mouse again to unfreeze the image.
The Pinch Tool lets you zoom in or out on an image. Click and hold to drag the image, and then click again to release it.
