Cloning and Mapping
Creation of an image with cloning involves capturing a background, then capturing objects and placing them on top of the background and blending them together.
Capture the Background – In Photoshop, create a new file. Select the Move tool, click to activate it and drag around the background, capturing what you want. You can use the Clone Tool to duplicate the background you’ve captured.
Duplicate the Background – Set the Source and Destination to Screen – this will retain the background layer. Click OK, then right-click and Merge Down to combine the two layers. Open the resulting file and you’ll have a background capture.
Save for Web – Open the Capture Layer in Photoshop and select Save for Web. Change the resolution to 72 ppi (ppi = dots per inch) and save it as jpg or png.
Capture the Image – Select the Image Tool, click to activate it and drag around your subject, place it on top of the existing background and merge. Use the same steps as in the above exercise to merge layers, so you have a capture of the subject layer. Open it and you’ll have a capture of the subject.
Multiple Colors
Adjust Color – Open the Adjustment Layer menu, click the Curves Adjustment Layer (if this option is not displayed, right-click on the Curves Layer and add it). Drag to the right to change the color values and control the saturation and desaturation of your subject, clipping the edges to either side.
Exposure – Open the Exposure and Levels Adjustment Layer menu. Drag Exposure down and to the right to get a brighter image.
Shadows – Open the Shadows and Highlight Adjustment Layer menu and drag the right-hand side to desaturate the image or drag Shadows left to brighten the image.
Adding Text
Add Text – Use the Type Tool, click to activate it and drag your text into place. Use Ctrl + Alt + I to rotate and place your text, or even to move it as needed. Open the resulting layer in Photoshop and create a new Path. Draw the path around the text or use the Pen Tool and connect the dots to make the path. Expand the text path.
Brushing Over Images
Create a New Artwork – Open the Layers menu and click Layer. New Artwork is the name of the default artwork for a new document. Drag a layer into the new artwork
