I want to create a web application which is in two types at the same time. One is called ‘BootStrapper’ which is a ‘base’ page for the other application. I.e. on your home page you will see buttons to navigate between different applications, that would use the same ‘base’ website and return back to the home page once they have loaded the data.
The problem is that I want to make sure that I can only create one instance of each web application. That is if I create a BootStrapper application twice at the same time, they will both use the same ‘data’ – so how do I do this?
I don’t want to use ‘application-specific’ pages, as they can be quite big and slow down the site. I also don’t want to use a ‘BootStrapper’ type web application, as I will have multiple different web applications that can be hosted on the same server.
I thought I could use a singleton pattern, but how would I apply it to my situation? If I’m happy with the existing code I already have, is there a way to apply the singleton pattern in it?
It seems that I have a problem with how the design of my site is. I only need a web site for the moment, so I haven’t come across any MVC or MVP frameworks yet, but if I do end up using one, how would it help me?
