Simply specify the source and destination folders and ZCopy will create a parallel structure at the destination which contains the same files and directories as the source, in the same or different storage locations, depending on the zcopy.ini settings and the zcopy.exe options.
ZCopy’s primary use is for backup. You can copy files, subdirectories and contents of files in a portable way. You can also combine multiple CD, DVD and ZIP archives into a single archive or rar the whole archive to burn it to a disc.
A primary advantage of using ZCopy’s « flat » structure is that you can create a small archive which contains all the files you need, a list of files and/or subdirectories, and perhaps also attributes to that structure.
After downloading ZCopy’s source code, you’ll need to compile and install it. Before you can use it you must specify the source and destination directories as command-line arguments:

The -t (–top) option takes a source and destination directory and creates a parallel tree of folders and subfolders that contains all the files and subdirectories (and its subfolders) found in the source directory. zcopy.exe will not create a tree of subfolders in the destination. It always creates a parallel tree. ZCopy does not support folders inside subfolders in the source or destination directories. This may cause problems if you are using zcopy to move or copy files that contain « ../../../… » strings.
The -a (–all) option takes a source and destination directory, and copies all the files and subdirectories into the destination directory as if the source directory had been selected by -t. This is the default behaviour if you do not specify a -t argument.
